Miller Jeep Trail Run Report
Meeting at the Park & Ride in Porter Ranch: We were able to quickly do the necessary liability paperwork. Six Jeeps were packed and ready to hit the road. Gary Martin was leading the group. Attending were, Norman & Pat Taylor, Scott Morse, Lyndol James, his son Robert, Grandson Landyn, Mike Sullivan, Terry & Yoko Werth with young son, Kento. John Cary and Nova met with us at the Flying J Truck Stop in Fraser Park where we topped off with fuel. John told us that a large group had left about 1 hour before us and expressed concern that it could impede our progress. As luck would have it, about 1 mile in on the trail we caught up with a group of 15 vehicles. They had stopped for a break in a wide spot and we were able to proceed without issue. We stopped at the bottom of Miller for lunch under the shade of some large trees. The weather was perfect, sunny clear and in the high 70s. After lunch, we headed up the hill without issue. We stopped a few times and everyone agreed that we had never seen the trail so smooth. Most of the spots that would usually offer some excitement were filled in. With the years of drought, there has not been any erosion to expose any rock. We stopped at the top at Dutchman Camp Ground and checked saw Yoko’s Jeep overflow bottle perking like coffee pot. The temperature was normal. We determined that the Radiator Cap was not holding pressure. We decided to drive down the mountain and play on the rock pile Located in the SVRA.
