OTR Mottino Wash, Big Bear DAY RUN

2nd MATINO WASH day run July 6th, 2013

What a great run.............Great Weather.............Great trail............No carnage (that I know of).

We meet at the Porter Ranch Park & Ride at 6am on Saturday July 6th. Ric and Lisa, her best friend Mely, Bill C., Mike S., Jemery C. and Richard H. all headed out the118,to the 14 (hooked up with Damian and his friend Keith D. at Sand Canyon), Pearblossom Hwy, US-395 S, Bear Valley Rd. where we stopping to top of gas at the cheep station. Continuing to CA-18 S, Old Woman Springs Rd and Rattlesnake Canyon Rd. by a little after 10am. Drop tow vehicle there, aired down, then head in Rattlesnake Canyon around 11am, 6 Jeeps in all, to Matino Wash. We stopped at the trail head to have strawberry short cake (the sugar high should help the group move faster). Best laid plans, there was a group ahead of us with a broken front track bar mount just past the first rock garden. That being cleared we continued up the wash, Many fun obstacles, most with multiple lines or by-passes. Everyone picked there lines and were successful. We caught up with the previous group again that afternoon and decided to have lunch while thy cleared. The weather was nice and warm, little cloud cover, little breeze, in the 90's. After lunch we finished the trail, wandered around the desert Joshua forest a bit and looped back out Rattlesnake Canyon. We where back at the staging are by a little after 4pm, aired up and reassembled. There was not a hole lot of interest in stopping for dinner so everyone just headed out.

Thank you all for making this such a great run and not hurting yourselves..................................
