Now becoming an annual event for OTR. We spend the long weekend Camping at the Serrano Campground and wheeling the trails of the Big Bear area. But as with all OTR events, this is about spending time with good friends. Always evenings full of fun around the campfire, adult beverages, appetizers and shared potluck meals. The RV park is hard to get reservations in, but not impossible. If you cant get a site or don't camp there are lots of B&B's as well as motels. Hope to see you all there.

Submitted by Bob Besch on Wed, 12/26/2018 - 11:12
A Tent camping History trip led by Mike Whittington. The land was taken from Mexico by the US in 1848 following the Mexican–American War, and in early 1858 the Mohave Trail became the Mojave Road, a wagon road connected to the newly pioneered Beale's Wagon Road across northern New Mexico Territory from Fort Defiance to Beale's Crossing on the Colorado River where it linked up with the Mojave Road. Wagon trains of settlers coming west on the Santa Fe Trail, soon followed Beale's Wagon Road and the Mojave Road into Southern California.

This is a great day run for all abilities. We love this place for its ease of access and lower difficulty level. It also makes for a great day to get out in our rigs and shake the winter out. We highly recommend this run for beginners and perspective members.

Saline Valley

Submitted by Bob Besch on Sun, 12/23/2018 - 10:31
Saline Valley is a large, deep, and arid valley in the northern Mojave Desert of California. Most of it became a part of Death Valley National Park when the park expanded in 1994. This area had previously been administered by the BLM. It is located northwest of Death Valley proper, south of Eureka Valley, and east of the Owens Valley. The valley's lowest elevations are about 1,000 feet (300 m) and it lies in the rain shadow of the 14,000-foot (4,300 m) Sierra Nevada Range, plus the 11,000-foot (3,400 m) Inyo Mountains bordering the valley on the west.
