OTR Cougar Buttes Annual New Years Run

New Years @ Cougar Buttes Trail Report
2014-2015

As remembered by Lisa, with Ric’s interference.

On Sunday Dec. 28th: - Mike Sully, Rich & Corkey Wohlers and John Cary arrive, and set camp. came in that evening.

On Monday Dec. 29th: - Dwayne and Tina Larson arrive some time. They blazed new a trail that day. Then later Ric Freymond pulls in about dark followed by Chad/ Joanna / Nash Oellien.

On Tuesday Dec 30th: - Mike Whittington arrives in morning, followed by Laura and Lisa in Mike’s truck in early evening.
RUN: Exploring new canyon (doing “Cal Trans” work on trail). Lead by Rich Wohlers, with Mike W., John C. did entire trail. Ric F., Mike S., Dwayne & Tina walked the major obstacles of the trail, returned to camp while Rich, Mike W. and John C. completed the trail. Trail Trouble: John C got “tipsy” on the trail (hey John, it’s not NY Eve yet!)
FUN: too cold for much socializing that nite

On Wednesday, Dec. 31st: - Jed Cunningham and friend arrives.
RUN: Hammer Down & Cake Frog (lol), Lead by Mike W. & Laura, and John C. Joined by all of the above.
Trail Trouble: Ric F. lost brake line on Hammer Down
FUN: Happy New Year’s amazing happy hour that evening! One of the best ever in Rich’s “man cave”. But none of us made it until Midnight, although some of us were awakened by fire works.

On Thursday, Jan 1st: - Lisa and Ric’s friends, Mely and Mike arrive.
FUN: New Year’s morning Pot Luck Breakfast extravaganza
in the “man cave”. Many great dishes shared, esp Tina’s blueberry pancakes, Joanna’s Corned Beef Hash, Laura’s sausage n Biscuit casserole, Corkey’s green chili n eggs dish, Jed’s Corned Beef Hash, Jed’s friend brought fresh squeezed oj, and Ric’s coffee bar.
RUN: Keith’s Trail. Lead by Mike W. & Laura, joined by Mike S., Rich & Corkey, Ric & Lisa with Mely & Mike, Dwayne & Tina, Chad & Joanna & Nash, Jed and friend, and John C.
Trail Trouble: Chad lost power steering.

On Friday, Jan 2nd: - most folks departed
RUN: Jed and friend, Ric & Lisa and friends went exploring around the back side of Cougar Buttes for a couple of hours. Was a beautiful day, fun obstacles. Jed and friend left around 1pm to play over at Johnson Valley.
FUN: Our friends made a wonderful dinner for us. They really enjoyed our group. Thanks to all for making them feel so welcome.

On Sat., Jan 3rd: - packed up and headed home.
