The title of this trip is “How to ditch the club’s President”

On the way out to Jawbone, Friday afternoon, I was coming down the grade to Sand Canyon and on the curve, in the truck parking area, was a motorhome with a jeep behind it. As the unit looked familiar I pulled off and parked along side the unit. After tooting my horn I asked the driver if he had run out of gas AGAIN. It was Tony and Jordan on the way to Johnson Valley for a CORVA event. Tony, some years ago ran out of gas at the pull off.

Saturday morning we met at Jawbone Ranger station. Mike led the group from Porter Ranch, as I spend the night in the desert. The weather during the weekend was excellent.

After Keith arrived – late (he stated the alarm did not go off), we left for Slant Ranch. The trail showed some rain and cleaning of the rocks. We wandered up through the canyon and had some fun on the waterfalls. The lower ones have bypasses and some elected to use them. The last waterfall was fun as usual with very few having to be strapped. When it came time for Tory to make it, his jeep would crank, but not start. Damien is his usual efficient manner deduced quikly is was the ignition sensor. It was pulled out, cleaned and we had a running jeep again. Tory is buying a spare sensor for future runs.

Stopped at Cudahay Ranch for lunch. There Dan and his daughter had to leave early for work. The rest finished Last Chance where Damien and Russ headed home. On the way to Nightmare Gulch we managed to loose our club President, but he had Chris with him, so we felt he would be okay. After finishing Nightmare we headed to Mojave for Pizza and talk of the ride. From there everyone headed for home.
