We had a great time this weekend. The weather was perfect and the group was nice and friendly.
Cork and I spent Wednesday night in the parking lot at the Blue Water Casino in Parker, just about four miles south of the event. We enjoyed the Casino and would recommend it. They have a nice indoor, three level pool/spa with a slide. The kids would love it.
I brought my dual sport motorcycle, so unloaded it in the morning and cruised around for a while. I checked out where the event was being held, La Paz County Park, just on the river and they were accepting participants. I put the motorcycle back in the trailer and headed out.
Tony had us hooked up with a club called the SCRAP and they welcomed me and gave us an area near them. They are really nice folk.
Early in the evening Jerome got there and a while later Mike and Laura showed up. We spoke to Tony on the phone and he would not be there til late, so the rest of us went to bed. The run was to leave at 9 on Friday morning.
It was wonderful when we got up. It had been blowing pretty hard on Thursday afternoon, but the morning was great. Tony and Corey moved the motor home over to camp and shortly after the group took off. The trail we were running is called President's Choice. It had some fun moments. By the way, talk about fun moments, we took the FToy and drove it on the street. I was told not to worry, but I was sure hoping we would not encounter Johnny Law any time this weekend. We never did, but I was still nervous. We always put me between licensed rigs. I was not the only one without a license at the event.
We got back to camp and the entertainment for the afternoon was car crawling. They had three cars set up and anyone could take their shots. See the pictures. There were a couple of roll overs and quite a few flat tires. All in all, the cars provided two days of entertainment.
On Saturday we headed out again at 9. I have no idea what trails we ran. Guess we hit parts of quite a few. In the afternoon we stopped at the Desert Bar. If you are in Parker, you have to go there. A regular car can make it. Quite a place. It is only open on weekends.
Saturday night they had the raffle. None of us won anything.
Sunday morning the rest of the group went home and Cork and I joined the SCRAP for another great day of wheeling over trails I do not know the names. In the morning we did easy stuff and then in the afternoon found some more interesting stuff.
Got back to camp around 4 and the camp ground was pretty empty. Loaded up the trailer and spent the night at the Casino again.
Great weekend and thanks to Tony for reminding us to join this event. We plan to be back there next year if we are in the area.
