Panamint Valley Days

Tom and I met at Porter Ranch Rd. Friday morning around 9. Scott E. was there to give me the tools he was donating for the auction. Thanks Scott. They were thankful for the donations. After a little 4wheel chatting we headed up to PVD. Kris had already gone up Thursday, so he could start selling tickets Friday morning.
We left Simi/The Valley with a lot of wind, thinking the desert would be windy also. Much to our surprise there was no wind, but that didn't last long. It did last long enough for us to have an excellent evening by the campfire.
We arrived around 2 and Robb Miller arrived a few minutes later. Early that evening a friend of Jeff Sanders arrived from San Diego - James and his wife.

Saturday morning the wind picked up and didn't stop until we left the desert. Tom and us headed back around 1pm on sunday. Robb and his wife moved to Panamint spring campground for a few days.
For the rides, Tom and I signed up for Isham, and Robb and James signed up for some easier trails. Robb's Rubicon is still to new for Isham. Only 12 signed up for Isham, plus three from Desert Dawgs who were the trail leaders. With the small group we got through Isham by noon. It was a great group of 4wheelers, everyone worked together and made the ride a lot of fun. All the jeeps made it through the V-notch at the end with some excellent spotting by Matt from Desert Dawgs.
As soon as I get the pictures from Tom, I will post to my web page.
It was so windy at the top, it was difficult to stand and we left rather quickly.
Saturday night was the drawing - None of us won anything.
We didn't stay out by the fire late because of the wind, so most of us were in bed early.
Sunday, Tom, Robb and I drove Defense Mine Trail and did one of the more difficult by-passes. Robb was our spotter. There was one very interesting waterfall which we made after some rock work.
From there we were back in camp by noon and on the road by one.

Except for the wind it was a great trip.
